W7 Get Set Eye Shadow Base Review

Hi All,
I'll be honest, I decided the other day I wasn't going to write another post until Blogmas began, so I missed Sundays post and I was going to miss today. The first reason for this is because I am currently typing up a lot of the Blogmas posts in advance and I just didn't have time for the regular blogging schedule too! The second reason was because I've just felt a bit out of sorts since I got back from my holiday, I've had a cold sore and eczema, which I always get when I am frazzled and run down. So I decided to listen to my body and try to look after myself. But right now I am missing my Blog and I need to write a post even though I was taking a week off! So today's post is happening after all!
I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, as it's about a product I really like and use often, which is the W7 Get Set Eye Shadow Base in White.
I've only been wearing an eyeshadow base for about a year and a half. This was the first one that I bought to try, because it was a great price (I think it's £5.95) I wanted to see if it really did make a difference -it did!
You know how when you paint your nails a neon colour, you really ought to use a white polish underneath to make them pop and truly show the neon pigment? Well, it's kind of similar for eyeshadow too. When you put this white base on your eyelid it cancels out your skin's natural colour and you're left with a blank white canvas. Whatever you put on top is going to be bold and the true pigmentation of the eye shadow will show.
The first swatch is eye shadow over the W7 base and the second swatch has no base. See the difference in pigmentation?!
The base is very creamy which seems to make the eyeshadow adhere to your eyes better, which gives great staying power and my eyeshadow mostly stays put all day. It also makes it easy to apply, with either your finger or a brush. A word of advice, - A little of this goes a long way. This product is going to last you a long time! On the website, it also says that it diminishes cracking and creasing, which I personally find it does.
At the time of writing this there aren't any available on the W7's website, but please do keep checking if you want this product, as it might be there now Here
What is your favourite Eye Shadow base?

Rimmel mini Haul

Hi, Everyone!
I've felt rubbish for a few months now and so a few weeks ago I decided to treat myself to some retail therapy at Boots. This can be a bit dangerous, I can spend far too much (And I did!) But I couldn't resist. I wanted to share with you a few products from the Rimmel section of my makeup binge!

I decided to try two mascaras I haven't tried before. The first was: The Volume Colourist mascara with lash tint complex. I really REALLY hope that this works. I will let you know if it tints my blonde eyelashes. Fingers crossed. I heard it takes about two weeks to start working. They seem a little darker already, I don't know if it's my imagination or not.

I also picked up the Super Volume & Curl mascara. My eyelashes are quite straight and sometimes no matter how much I curl them, they revert back to being annoyingly straight by lunchtime. I had high hopes for this but they didn't quite curl them as much as I wanted, there was some lift but not much. I also found this mascara really clumpy, I've even tried scraping the excess off the wand. I seem to spend ages combing through my eyelashes after I've applied this. I'll be going back to my Great Lash Maybelline Mascara when this one is finished.

I have been using the Rimmel eyeliner in Jet black forever, it's one of the few things I ever completely run out of. I love the pigmentation, as the name suggests, it is indeed jet black. I've gotten really annoyed in the past when I've bought eyeliners and the pigment just isn't there. If I could take one product to a desert island it would be this...or lip balm!

I have seen a lot of people raving about the Rimmel fix & perfect makeup primer, so I picked one of those up too. I really like it. Although I don't normally wear foundation every day, I did on holiday earlier in the month, as I didn't want to terrify my family with my bare face! My makeup did seem to last longer and it smoothed everything out. I also really like the smell, it's not strong it just smells clean and fresh.

I also got a Rimmel lip liner which I reviewed HERE

Do you have any of the above? If so do you like it?

Places I want to visit

Hi Everyone,
There are so many places I want to visit in the future. I'm going to hit 30 soon-ish, and I figured that I need to start checking some of the following off my list. Below I've listed just 5 of the many places I want to go too:

My top choice! I would go as far to say that if I do indeed love Norway as much as I think I will, then I'd want to live there one day. The landscape is stunning, with its fjords and mountains. I'd love to take my good camera and just take photos there ALL day! I love History and would love to visit The Viking Ship Museum. The absolute dream, of course, would be to see and photograph the Northern lights. I am actually in the process of learning Norwegian for when I do visit.

The land of ice and fire! Again, a breath-taking place to photograph, with its beautiful landscapes carved out by volcanic activity and the stunning glaciers, Iceland is perfect for me. Of course, I'd want to go and visit the famous Blue Lagoon. I also saw a trip where you can descend into a Volcano, but don't worry, it last erupted about 4000 years ago! There is SO much I want to do here that I'd need at least 2 weeks. And if I didn't manage to see the Northern lights in Norway then fingers crossed I'd see them in Iceland!

Not only is it gorgeous but the air is supposed to be so clean and crisp. I'd love to stay in one of those wooden chalets. My Mum visited here when she was a little girl and she has assured me that it is amazing. Perfect for hiking -not that I am a seasoned hiker, but I might be if I visit Switzerland! I'd love to visit the Old Town, Salt Mines and Ruinaulta.

I have already visited this medieval city but I'd love to go back. It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway with its cute canal boat rides and the square all lit up at night. It's also great for shopping and getting some unusual gifts to bring back home. It has a great outdoor market that is lovely to walk around. It's the perfect destination for an art lover such as myself, there are some wonderful Renaissance pieces. I'd like to revisit the Basilica of the Holy Blood, although I wasn't visiting for religious reasons, I still found it a real experience.

My Husband has been here and I'd love to go too. It looks like it would be great for a long weekend city break. I'd love to visit some of the art galleries and see the Gaudi buildings. I'm not a football fan, but I would like to go to Camp Nou: Barcelona Football Stadium. And of course, I'd have to go to the beach!
Where do you want to visit and what would you do there?

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner Review

Hi All,

I have another review for you today. I am reviewing the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob.

This is the only lip liner I can wear that makes my lips look naturally bigger, I normally end up looking like a clown! It's a gorgeous dusky nude pink. It has quite a creamy formula which glides on easily. You don't have the bother of finding a sharpener for it either because it is one of those twisty pencils that extends and retracts. Yes!! -We all know I like that!
I like that the packaging is in the same colour as the lip liner, this makes it so much easier to locate when I'm routeing around in my makeup box!

My favourite way to wear this is actually on its own, I apply it all over my lips for a matte effect which makes my lips look bigger, and the colour looks beautiful. I do find it quite long lasting. Although wearing it on its own can feel a little sticky. I am not sure if Rimmel has this shade in a lipstick or not, but if they did I would buy it, especially if it was a matte. You can wear it on its own or with lip balm or clear lip gloss. I think this is a colour that would suit every skin tone, which is always a huge bonus!

For only £3.99 you get great quality and staying power. I highly recommend this. I can't speak for the other lip liners in the range, as I've not tried them, but this one is gorgeous!

A Trip to Wales - Photo Diary

 Hi All,

I've just come home after a week in Wales. As well as being on holiday, I had the time to do some of my favourite things. Here are some snaps I took while I was away to share on the blog.

A brisk walk along the pier. It was very windy and cold but the views of the Orme and looking back at Llandudno are great!

Of course I had to take a photo of this dude!

Although my job is an Illustrator it was nice to do some art just for myself while I was away. I'm going to be setting up an Etsy shop soon selling my illustrations, so it was fun to start planning for that. I also got some art for my blog done.

Up on the Little Orme. Believe it or not there are little seals down there! A Mum, Baby and maybe the Dad swimming in the sea. Unfortunately my camera didn't capture them.

I had the time to read more of my new favourite magazine: Blogosphere. I discovered some more great Blogs while reading. I was also inspired to start planning the content of my Christmas blog posts too. In the evenings I enjoyed lovely relaxing bubble baths in a HUGE pink bathtub! (Where can I get one?!)

This cutie decided to follow us around for a while when we were shopping!

Fancy a dip?!!

There was a pebble beach at the end of the garden where we were staying. I went for a walk every day. It was great to clear my head and think through plans for the future. This trip was just what I needed to get some direction.

It was sad to come home but my Husband and I already have plans to go back next year as there's lots we want to do. After a very stressful Summer and a big bout of horrible depression, it was lovely to get away from it all.

Have you been away for an Autumn break? Let me know where you've been or plan to go.

Love, Roar Dinosaur!

Sleek Makeup Mini Haul

Hi All,
I have a mini haul to share with you today, I love posts like this, so I thought I would give it a go myself! I'm sure at some point I will do reviews on the following products as well.
Something I have wanted to try for quite a while now is the Sleek Highlighter palette. I admit I was totally drawn in by several Youtube videos I have seen. I've watched the Youtuber's gasp in delight at the extreme glow, as they swipe their highlighting brush over their cheekbones. It left me sitting there practically stroking the screen saying I want it!

Anyway, I got the Solstice highlighter palette. The shiny gold packaging is a thing of beauty. There is one cream formula and 3 powders. I'm excited to try some Christmas looks with this.
 Buy yours HERE
I want to up my contour game and I also wanted to try the Sleek cream contour palette in light. I am not sure how well I will get on with this as I've never used cream contouring before, but so far so good.

I really needed a new eyebrow pencil so I thought I would try the Sleek one out. I have been looking for a new eyebrow pencil for a while. Technically I should get lighter shades but they always come out looking a bit orange in my eyebrows for some reason, so I go a little darker. I always use it with a very light hand so it doesn't come out crazy dark. I literally just stroke the pencil over the hairs to give them some colour and fill in sparse areas and that's all I do to my eyebrows.

I have already used this pencil and I am in love. The pencil is angled which helps with precision. You twist it, so no sharpening, Yay! The other end of the pencil has a brush. I always use a brush anyway so it's great to have it attached!

Have you tried any Sleek makeup? Do let me know!

October 2016 Favourites!

Hi, Everyone!

This is my first ever 'Favourites' blog post.

Wow, October flew by! From October through to the end of December is my favourite time of year. Autumn and winter are beautiful seasons, I love the smells, falling leaves and just the excitement of this time of year. There is so much to look forward too.

Here are a few of my fave things from last month:
Barry M Lipstick:

Okay, so this month I spent a small fortune on makeup. A favourite purchase of mine was a Barry M lipstick.
I have been looking for a perfect nude shade of lipstick for years! Perhaps since I was about 15. I have now called off the search, I have found it for a mere £4.99 by Barry M.

The shade is Truffle Shuffle from the Satin Super Slick Lip Paint range. The packaging is very sleek and classy, the lipstick tube is in a gun metal.

The consistency is gorgeous and creamy. It left my lips feeling very moisturised, this is probably down to the Shea Butter & Vitamin E. The pigmentation is great and my shade is buildable. I love it!

Buy one HERE
 Sleek Mini Matte Me Collection:
These were £5 -can you believe that?! I saw them on the way out of Boots and had to go back and buy them. I think it's a gift set intended for Christmas, so if you've set yourself a tight budget for this Christmas then this might be a great gift idea. You get 4 matte liquid lipsticks in a mini size. (However, they're still a good size.)
The shades are: Rioja Red, Velvet Slipper, Birthday Suit (my favourite!) and Old Hollywood.
Perfect shades for this time of year I am sure you'll agree. These are my first matte liquid lipsticks, I can't deal with dry lips so I am not sure how I'll fair with these, but I do like them.

Real Techniques Brushes:

I have wanted these brushes for ages! I got two Bold Metal Collection brushes: Flat Contour and the Tapered Shadow. I also got the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush -which I actually use to apply my liquid foundation. I am sure you don't need me to tell you that these brushes are amazing quality and they're so pretty too!

Tapered Shadow HERE

Of course, Halloween had to be on the list! I didn't go to a party, I just decorated our house, ate some lovely food and watched films. I love Halloween, it's such a fun time of year and always takes me back to my childhood. So here are a couple of photos:

 This cupcake was gorgeous!! Yum!
Ok so that was my October, how was yours? Comment below.
